“The Jug” as we are locally known, has been owned by the family company, Stange & Co. since 1992. During which time we have seen Heswall change in a number of ways and various pubs and restaurants come and go. Having stood the test of time we have also had to evolve over the years. Many will remember the Jug as a busy tapas restaurant & bar with live music before we decided to change tack, and bring a proper British pub to Heswall serving wholesome British food, local ales and quality wines.
Since that change of direction, we have gone from strength to strength winning the “Wirral Taste Award” in 2014 for our use and presentation of quality local produce. We have also been awarded a 4 star guest accommodation rating for our rooms. Our food has acquired quite a reputation over the past 18 months with people visiting from far and wide to try our delicious choice of pub classics and seasonal specials not to mention our selection of mouth-watering homemade desserts.
Not forgetting our formidable bar with a wide selection of local ales, lagers, wines, spirits, soft and hot drinks. Set with rustic wooden furniture, leather arm chairs and open fires, it’s the perfect stop for a tipple or two or a bite to eat.
